Samsung Factory Fire

The post Samsung Factory Fire appeared first on MoTech Radio.

The folks over at [T] have had an interesting weekend. A fire started in one of the factories supplying PCB’s for the new Galaxy S5, scheduled to be released in April. IBTimes writes:

“…[T]he fire started in a factory in Anseong, South Korea, at about 7:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, and blazed for six hours before nearly 300 firefighters could extinguish it. The damage from the fire is estimated to be about $1 billion.”

While the factory certainly suffered a large loss, nobody was killed in the fire. Could this lead to setbacks for the release of the Galaxy S5? Some believe so:

Galaxy S5 Release Faces Possible Setback

The Samsung Galaxy S5 release date could come a little later for some carriers or could come with fewer GalaxY S5 units to sell after a six to eight-hour fire caused over 1 billion dollars in damages to components and equipment at a Samsung partner facility. …

However, Samsung has stated that they do not expect the fire to have a large impact on the production of the new phone. Ubergizmo thinks that there might merely be a limited supply for a few months, nothing more:

Galaxy S5 Production Will Not Be Hugely Affected By Recent Factory Fire

It hasn’t been too long since Samsung announced the Galaxy S5. In fact if the handset was what you were after, you wouldn’t have to wait too long to get it either as the handset has been pegged for a release sometime in April. Or at least that’s what the initial plan was until a recent fire broke out at one of Samsung’s partner factories. …

Users may well be excited that the release of the S5 will not be delayed, seeing as Samsung just released the official video introducing it. We’ve got lots to look forward to!
